Your Guide To Drapery Fullness

One of our most common questions when fulfilling drapery rental orders is what fullness will be needed? We know this can sometimes be confusing but we have simplified it as much as possble. Let's quickly go over that here and make sure you're achieving the right look for your production.

Overall the fullness will depend on the application and the look you're trying to achieve. It's best to think about fullness as simply the additional amount of fabric provided to achieve the desired look. As a rule of thumb we always recommend a minium of 50% fullness  which gives your drapery a good amount of gathering for a rich, pleated look.

  • Flat or 0% Fullness: The drapery will be installed with a flat straight run. This is common for masking purposes or for standard backdrops.

  • 50% Fullness: An installation with 50% fullness will require 1.5X the drape to achieve that look. For 100' run 150' of drapery will be provided.

  • 75% Fullness: An installation with 75% fullness will require 1.75X the drape to achieve that look. For 100' run 175' of drapery will be provided.

  • 100% Fullness: An installation with 100% fullness will require 2X the drape to achieve that look. For 100' run 200' of drapery will be provided.

  • 200% Fullness: An installation with 200% fullness will require 3X the drape to achieve that look. For 100' run 200' of drapery will be provided. A grand theater drape will commonly be provided at 200% full.

The options for speciality fullness designs like box pleats, knife pleats, ripplefolds, and others are available on custom production orders.
